Jane Howell, Financial Aid Specialist
Jane Howell began serving as the financial aid specialist in July of 1999. Before that, she was the assistant to the former financial aid specialist for over three years. She worked at Clearwater High School and Seminole High School for a total of 11 years before coming to the financial aid department.
Ms. Howell works with the Florida Bright Futures scholarships, several other scholarships and programs offered by the state of Florida, the Talented Twenty program and with community service. Her other responsibilities include presenting annual financial aid seminars for high school students and their parents, assisting with counselor seminars and workshops and helping with College Goal Sunday each year.

Susan (Sue) Heaton, Financial Aid Assistant
Sue Heaton is the assistant in the financial aid department. Before coming to this office, she spent 17 years working in various positions in the Pinellas County School System. She has worked in both the high school and elementary school setting as a paraprofessional, records clerk and data management technician.
Her primary responsibility in the financial aid office is maintaining and adding information to the large databases used in the office. One database contains the information for the monthly scholarship publication "Opportunities". Sue keeps this database up to date and prepares the dated information for school distribution. Another database is the community service documentation for the Florida Academic Award, one of the Florida Bright Futures Scholarships. This database is kept for state auditing purposes.

In Addition . . . Ms. Howell and Ms. Heaton organize and distribute district, state, and federal materials for financial aid, scholarship, and community service information. The includes items such as flyers, pamphlets, booklets, brochures, packets, and forms which go out to Pinellas county students and their parents or guardians. These materials are supplied to the high schools, hospital/homebound, dropout prevention programs, disciplinary centers, Life Skills, adult evening and community schools, ESE centers, the sites for the yearly Financial Aid Seminars and to various other locations and personnel on a regular basis.
A list of current scholarships, "Monthly Opportunities", is e-mailed to school counselors the 1st day of each month during the school year. This list is available in school guidance offices, at the district office and on our Financial Aid web sites.
