HR Mission Statement
The mission of the Human Resources Department is to provide customer-focused human resources services that support the district's strategic directions through effective and efficient processes.





Office hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm.





Pinellas County Schools is a dynamic, progressive school system in West Central Florida. In order to accomplish the mission and vision of the School Board of Pinellas County, our district must recruit and retain only the best employees available throughout the nation. Public education is constantly demanding higher levels of accountability at all levels and Pinellas County Schools places great emphasis on hiring and continuously training employees who wish to make education their career choice. As a large, metropolitan school district with more than 100,000 students, we pride ourselves on the quality of our employees and the excellence of our schools. We view public schools as an exciting and challenging educational enterprise.

The Division of Human Resources is comprised of several departments that focus on recruitment, hiring, orientation, compensation, risk management and employee benefits, retirement, equal opportunity, labor relations and public information. Our primary responsibility is to recruit, select, and retain highly qualified applicants in every field to support the efforts of our schools in providing the best education possible to our students. The Human Resources Division works cooperatively with other divisions to constantly seek ways to improve the delivery of services to schools and departments. The 16,000 employees of Pinellas County Schools represent a significant investment in human and financial capital for the taxpayers of this district. Consequently, the Human Resources Division accepts responsibility for selecting individuals who are committed to children and who are dedicated to continuously improving their professional skills in order to meet to competition of today's world.

Through improvements in automation and technology, we are striving to maintain a highly efficient and effective operation that treats every potential and current employee as an important part of the education family in Pinellas County. From application to retirement, we view each staff member as a vital part of our effort to provide the quality of educational experience that our community expects and demands from our public schools.



Personnel
Using a full-service approach, the personnel department is organized in teams aligned to key personnel functions. Our responsibilities include pre and post employment services, specialized hiring, status changes, and management of personnel records for all employees and applicants. Effective partnerships with our schools, other departments, labor organizations, the Florida Department of Education, universities, and our local communities ensure customer-focused services in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Office of Equal Opportunity
The district is committed to assuring equal opportunities for all students and staff in all programs and activities offered by the school district. This commitment is demonstrated by the establishment of the District's Office of Equal Opportunity. The OEO department is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring equal access compliance with local, state, federal laws and Board policies.

Further, the school board and administration expect all employees to accomplish their work in a professional manner with a concern for the well-being of their co-workers. Specifically forbidden is harassment of a sexual, racial, ethnic or religious nature. Harassment includes unsolicited remarks, gestures, physical contact, display or circulation of written materials or pictures derogatory to either gender or to racial, ethnic or religious groups. Any employee who experiences conduct of this sort should bring it to the attention of his or her supervisor or contact the Office of Equal Opportunity at 588-6198.



Risk Management
Risk Management and Insurance is divided into four goal oriented teams focused on providing competitive benefit and risk management programs that support highest student achievement, high performing workforce and effective and efficient operations.

Our responsibilities include employee benefits, wellness, retirement programs, workers compensation, safety and loss control and risk management. Department staff provide technical services to schools and departments and manage a variety of district programs affecting employees and students.

Recruiting
Pinellas County Schools employs two full-time recruiters whose primary responsibility is to find outstanding and qualified employees. Pinellas County Schools recruits both in-state and out-of state by attending educational and career job fairs. Vacancies are posted on our web site.
