July 30 11-month administrators and supporting services personnel report to duty.

July 30-Aug. 10 Workforce education schools closed.

Aug. 7 10.5-month administrators report to duty.

Aug. 10 Four-day work week ends.

Aug. 13 Bus drivers report for six-day workshop. Food services managers report to duty.

Aug. 13-20 Workforce education professional development days. Workforce education schools closed.

Aug. 14 10-month teachers, clerical workers, teacher assistants and paraprofessionals report to duty. 10-month instructional personnel report to duty.

Aug. 14-20 Professional development days for 10-month instructional personnel.

Aug. 17 Food services workers report to duty.

Aug. 21 PreK-12 schools open; classes begin; workforce education schools open.

Sept. 3 Labor Day holiday. Schools and district offices closed.

Sept. 11 Countywide graduation.

Sept. 12 School Improvement Planning Day – two-hour early release for students. Site-based professional development activities for school improvement. (designated hurricane make-up day)

Sept. 17-21 Bus evacuation drills.

Oct. 10 School Improvement Planning Day – two-hour early release for students. Site-based professional development activities for school improvement. (designated hurricane make-up day)

Oct. 19 Schools closed for students. State Professional Development Day (10-month and 11.5-month instructional staff trade day). Catalogue of Choice Day. Holiday for bus drivers and cafeteria attendants. Food services workers on duty.

Oct. 23-24 First-quarter exams for schools on 4x4 schedules.

Nov. 7 School Improvement Planning Day – two-hour early release for students. Site-based professional development activities for school improvement. (designated hurricane make-up day.)

Nov. 11-17 American Education Week.

Nov. 14 Progress Energy Great American Teach-In.

Nov. 19-23 Thanksgiving holidays. Schools closed for students. Holidays for bus drivers, cafeteria attendants, food services workers, 196-day personnel.

Nov. 19-20 District training days for 10-month (198 days) instructional personnel (trade option). Professional development days for 11.5-month (235 days) instructional personnel (trade option). All 11- and 12-month personnel on duty. Holidays for bus drivers, cafeteria attendants, food services workers and 196-day personnel

Nov. 21-23 Thanksgiving holidays. Schools and district offices closed.

Dec. 24-Jan. 4 Winter holidays. Schools and district offices closed.

2008

Jan. 7 Schools and district offices reopen.

Jan. 15-17 First-semester exams for regular high schools.

Jan. 16-17 Second-quarter exams for schools on 4x4 schedules.

Jan. 18 Schools closed for students. First semester ends. Professional development day (10-month and 11.5-month instructional staff trade day) 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All 10-, 11-, 12-month personnel and food services workers on duty. Holiday for bus drivers and cafeteria attendants.

Jan. 21 Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Schools closed. All 12-month personnel on duty.

Jan. 22 Second semester begins.

Feb. 11-15 Bus evacuation drills.

Feb. 18 Schools closed for students. Professional Development Day (10-month and 11.5-month instructional staff trade day) 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All 10-, 11-, 12-month personnel and food services workers on duty. Holiday for bus drivers and cafeteria attendants.

March 5 School Improvement Planning Day – two-hour early release for students. Site-based professional development activities for school improvement. (designated hurricane make-up day)

March 25-26 Third-quarter exams for high schools on 4x4 schedules.

March 31-April 4 Spring holidays. Schools closed (12-month personnel see below).

March 31 12-month personnel on duty.

April 1-4 Spring holidays for 12-month personnel. District offices closed.

April 7 Schools and district offices reopen.

May 14 School Improvement Planning Day – two-hour early release for students. Site-based professional development activities for school improvement. (designated hurricane make-up day)

May 26 Memorial Day holiday. Schools and district offices closed.

May 30 & June 2-3 Final exams for regular high schools.

June 2-3 Fourth-quarter exams for high schools on 4x4 schedules.

June 3 Last day for students. Two-hour early release for students. Second semester ends. Afternoon graduation. Last day for bus drivers and cafeteria attendants.

June 4 Graduation. Professional development day for 10-month instructional personnel. Professional development day for 11.5-month instructional personnel.

June 5 Graduation. Professional development day for 10-month instructional personnel. Last day for teachers.

June 12 Last day for 10.5-month administrators.

June 18 Last day for 11-month personnel.
