Close-to-home Elementary Assignment map

The close-to-home elementary assignment map was designed for students entering kindergarten. Only those students entering kindergarten, sixth- or ninth-grades will be guaranteed their close-to-home school. All other students will be assigned to a close-to-home school on a space-available basis. Parents who need additional information should contact Student Assignment, (727) 588-6210 or the district Call Center, (727) 587-2020.

The variables used in the development of the map were the:
  1. Number of students who accepted a magnet, fundamental or career academy seat for 2008-09 (these students were removed from the population to be assigned).
  2. Density of student populations in the county.
  3. Historical zoning patterns where applicable.
  4. Sibling priority implications.
  5. Consideration of major roads and thoroughfares.
  6. Natural boundaries such as lakes, parks, etc.
  7. Input received during listening sessions and from other written correspondence.
  8. Input from school principals.
  9. Class size amendment implications.
** The map includes four area magnet schools: Lakewood, Maximo, Campbell Park and Gulfport. Students living in one of these designated school zones will be given a priority to attend that school if they agree to participate in the magnet program at the school.
