FINGERPRINTING

The Law

Florida Statute 1012.465 requires that all employees and student interns must meet Level 2 Screening requirements as described in Florida Statute 1012.32 (available online WWW.FLSENATE.GOV/STATUTES. Title: XLVIII Chapter: 1012)
All employees and student interns must be electronically fingerprinted specifically for and by Pinellas County Schools. Pinellas County Schools reserves the right to determine which applicants will be approved and which will be disqualified in accordance with Pinellas County Schools’ hiring guidelines.

General information

Using an Internet Browser

From your work site or home, log into PCSSTAFF.SOFN.NET
to register. Be sure to have a printer connected so that you will able to print the bar code receipt you will be required to provide at the time of your fingerprinting.

This website is a secure website. Secure data encryption methods similar to those banks use are designed into this website.

Your Social Security Number will be required during the registration process. It is important that you provide your correct SSN due to the interface between the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Department of Education Certification issuing/renewal process. Incorrect SSN’s will cause the DOE to be unable to issue Teaching Certificates and you will be charged to correctly re-submit your prints.

This link will provide help with registering for fingerprinting.

If you misplace your registration bar code receipt, a copy can be obtained by visiting SUPPORT.SOFN.NET. You will need your identification number from the photo ID that you originally identified as your valid ID (i.e. Driver’s License number).

New Employee/Student Interns

All new employees and student interns are required to pay a $63.25 fee online by credit card during registration or by money order at the time of fingerprinting.

Important Money Order Information:

  • Make payable to: PrideRock Holdings Company, Inc.

  • On the money order include First Name, Last Name and the 11 digit bar code number from the registration form.

  • Payment by money order is required at the time of fingerprinting, otherwise you will be rescheduled at a later date.

  • Student interns may use an ABG Service Center for fingerprinting, but if payment is made by money order, they must send their money order with their “Student Intern Security Check For The School Board Of Pinellas County” to Trish Cross in Human Resources immediately following the fingerprint appointment. The prints will not be released to the FBI/FDLE for processing until payment has been received.

  • Current Employee

Current employees that have direct student contact or handle cash transactions are required to be screened every five years. The cost of this screening is currently being paid by the District. School and department administrators are provided lists of their staff members that are required to be screened each year. Only those staff members on the list will be able to register to be printed. If you have questions regarding your eligibility contact your site administrator or secretary. A schedule for on-site fingerprinting sessions is developed by our vendor, Advantage Biometrics Group. Their technicians will visit each site to print the eligible staff members. Staff members must register to be printed at their work sites only, site head counts are used to calculate the required times the ABG technicians will need to be on site before moving on to the next scheduled location. Substitute teachers will select the Administration building or one of the ABG service centers for their print location due to not having a permanent assignment at a school site.

    Rejected Prints/Make-up Locations

    Rejected Fingerprints

Even though the fingerprint images are evaluated by the scanning software before they are submitted to the FBI/FDLE, some will still be deemed illegible by their computer systems. This occurs in a small percentage of cases and is usually resolved with a second submission. In the rare case that the second submission also fails you will not need to be printed again, the District will request that the background screening be handled by the Schools Police using an alternative method.

If your fingerprints are rejected you will still need to complete the required background screening. You will receive an automated email from support@priderockholdings.com. You will need to print that email. Please disregard instructions on that email that directs you to a location. Pinellas County Schools has set up make-up locations at the Administration Building and three Advantage Biometrics Service Center locations for PCS staff to use in the case of illegible fingerprints (see below). Do follow the instructions regarding the need to print the receipt (the actual email) and provide that to the technician, along with your ID when you arrive to be printed. Please review the locations and the schedule for each site and select the most convenient for you (see below). You will not need to pre-register prior to arriving, the new bar code receipt you will receive on the automated email validates to the technician that you need to be printed.

    Make-up Locations
These sites are to be used within one of three scenarios:

    1. The employee already pre-registered at their work site, but was unable to make the scheduled time.

    • In this case, the employee can simply show up at one of the make-up locations with their registration bar code and be printed. No pre-registration is required. An appointment is required at the Administration Building and recommended for ABG Service Center sites.

    2. The employee was contacted by Human Resources and/or the vendor’s system by email because their original prints where not readable by the FBI/FDLE system and need to be re-printed.

    • In this case, the employee can simply show up at one of the make-up locations with their new registration bar code that was emailed to them and be printed. No pre-registration is required. An appointment is required at the Administration Building and recommended for ABG Service Center sites.

    3. The employee did not pre-register for the session at their work site and that session date has already passed.

    • From your work site or home, log on to PCSSTAFF.SOFN.NET . Follow the same registration procedures that you originally received, with the exception of selecting a convenient make-up locations instead of your current work site. You will call for an appointment in this case.

The following will provide you with information on the make-up sites. This link will give you information for the make-up sites and this one will give you the directions/phone numbers and times for the sites.
