  • World Refugee Day Celebration!
    On Friday, June 17, from 10 AM-Noon, Pinellas Technical College (PTC), United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), Refugee Services from The Department of Children and Families (DCF), and Pinellas Refugee Education Program (PREP) will host a World Refugee Day celebration on the St. Pete Campus of PTC. Mayor Rick Kriseman, Dr. Grego, Mr. Hunt, members of the PCS Board, and Kathy Castor will be attending, and the event will be emceed by Al Ruechel of Bay News 9.

    The USCIS will naturalize 30-35 new citizens and PTC will feature a new film created by their Digital Video Production students: “Refugees: Roads to Success.” Bruce Copeland and two of his Digital Video Production students will be recognized for their work on this film, and two of Pinellas County Schools’ ESOL teachers will be recognized for their outstanding effort with refugee students. The PTC Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts program will provide free hors d’oeuvres at the beginning of the event. Please join us to participate in this wonderful celebration!   • Pinellas Technical College, St. Petersburg campus, celebrates 40 years of accreditation by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).  PTC, St. Petersburg, was initially accredited in 1976 and has maintained its accreditation by meeting the standards of quality as evaluated by COE, and by meeting the needs of students, the community, and employers.  Click here for more information.
