Pinellas Students Scoring At or Above Grade Level In FCAT Reading and Math
Pinellas County Schools’ students improved one percentage point over 2007 results in the number of students at or above grade level (level 3 or above) in both reading and math in FCAT scores released today. In science, Pinellas students scoring at or above grade level were up in the three grades tested.
“We are pleased to see students continuing to improve their performance in the FCAT,” said Dr. Julie M. Janssen, interim superintendent. “These positive results can be attributed to the hard work of our students, teachers and staff members. We will spend time analyzing the results and develop strategies to promote continued progress for all students.”
In reading, every grade level in Pinellas except 5th grade went up in the number of students at level 3 or above. In math, every grade except 7th and 10th went up in the number of proficient students. Students in grades 7 and 10 stayed at the same level in math as last year.
