General Information


  • PCS employees may view their payroll and personnel information and in some cases update their own personal information from the PCS employee self service website

  • Pinellas County School Board employees are paid biweekly. Instructional, administrative, professional and technical employees are paid as one group, and all supporting personnel employees are paid as another group. One group is paid each week. A typical pay period ends on a Friday, and checks are issued the following Friday. Online manual checks eliminate the need for supplemental payroll runs.

  • The payroll system used is Total Educational Resource Management System (TERMS). Our version of TERMS is run on an AS/400 platform.

  • All of the leave time, overtime, dockage, etc. as well as the hours to pay substitute teachers is entered online at each school or department. Our Subfinder system generates payroll for substitute teachers as well as certificate of absences for teachers.

  • All payroll reports are produced online eliminating the need for hardcopy reports.

  • Employees entering DROP or retiring will have a their unused leave directed to a 401(a) retirement plan administered by BENCOR Administrative Services if the value of their leave is greater than $2,500. The amount of leave pay contributed to the 401(a) plan is subject to Board policies, IRS contribution limits and the $2,500 minimum.

  • All employees receive Basic Board paid life insurance coverage equal to one times your annual salary, rounded up to the next $1,000. Coverage amounts in excess of $50,000 are subject to taxation under Section 79 of the Internal Revenue Code.  

  • We offer direct deposit to all financial institutions and have implemented an automatic pay plan for all employees

  • Pinellas County Schools is shut down three days for Thanksgiving, two weeks for the winter holidays and one week for spring break. All school board employees are off during most of these times. 

  • 10-month instructional, 10.5-month assistant principals and 11-month assistant principals employees may opt for a 12-month option payment plan.

  • 12-month employees earn one day of vacation per month for 0-4 years of service, 1.25 days for 5-9 years of service and 1.5 days for 10 years of service and beyond.

  • 12-month employees are paid for 247 days per fiscal year, 11.5-month employees are paid for 235 days, 11-month employees are paid for 218 days, 10.5-month employees are paid for 206 days, 10-month teachers are paid for 199 days, other 10-month employees are paid for 196 days, 9-month employees are paid for 186 days, food service employees and bus drivers are paid for 192 days.
