Student Records from Closed Nonpublic Schools
|
When a nonpublic school closes, what happens to the student records? Florida Statutes provide for two ways of maintaining the permanent information, or transcript-type portion, of these records. (See 1002.42(3)(b), F.S.) The information may be transferred to the public school district in which the nonpublic school was located, or it may be transferred to the principal office of the school system or association of which the nonpublic school is a member.
The Pinellas County Schools District has accepted student records from several closed nonpublic schools. These records are maintained by Central Records. Other schools have notified Central Records of the disposition of their student records. The status of student records from defunct nonpublic schools in Pinellas County is identified in the link below.
If Central Records has the student information from a defunct nonpublic school, we will provide copies of that information to former students on request. Mail or fax a Request for Nonpublic School Records and Release Authorization to Central Records. The form can be completed online and printed, or printed and then filled out. We require a written signature on all requests for student records. We cannot comply with emailed requests.
Mail the completed form to:
Pinellas County Schools Central Records 2929 County Road 193 Clearwater, Florida 33759
Or, fax the form to:

If you have questions about the procedures for requesting copies of student records, contact Central Records.
