Purpose:
To assist in the development of permanent shade structures for outdoor locations that are not protected from the sun, such as playgrounds, pools, eating areas, and other locations.
Eligibility:
·Be a non-profit organization or public school that primarily serves children and teens ages 18 and younger
·Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sun safety and skin cancer awareness by having a sun safety/skin cancer awareness program in place for at least one year prior to application
·Be sponsored by an AAD member dermatologist. Locate an AAD member dermatologist by using the AAD’s Find a Dermatologist tool.
Grant Award:
Maximum of $8000 which can include the cost for a shade structure and installation. The maximum amount for each shade structure grant is $8000.
2010 ING Run for Something Better School Awards Program

Purpose:
ING Run For Something Better (ING RFSB), in partnership with the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE), seeks to increase physical activity in students and help fight childhood obesity nationwide through the creation of school-based running programs.
The new awards program will provide fifty (50) $2,000 grants to schools that desire to establish a school-based running program or expand an existing one.
Eligibility:
Programs that target grades 4th through 8th in public elementary or middle schools
Grant Award:
Minimum of fifty (50) $2,000 grants to schools. Awards are available to schools in all fifty (50) states
and D.C. but will be limited to no more than five (5) recipients per state

To reward real-life Math Heroes for their dedication to improving math education and their inspiration of participation in math.
Eligibility:
Must be a full-time middle school or high school teacher who is currently employed and teaching a mathematics curriculum OR volunteers working with an approved math-related nonprofit organization (i.e. MATHCOUNTS®)
A matching award of $2,500 will be granted to the school where each recipient is employed or to another approved math-related nonprofit organization of the recipient’s choice. The Math Hero will direct how the funds are used by the school or other nonprofit organization.
Grant Award:
Up to (3) awards of $2,500 each will be granted to math Hero recipients in each of the nine target markets where Raytheon has a presence (including FL).

Purpose:
To support one of the priorities of the National Wildlife Refuge System – that of using public lands for environmental education.
Eligibility:
Academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, Audubon chapters, youth organizations; partnership of neighborhood schools with community groups and wildlife refuges.
Note: Eligible projects will:
Use national wildlife refuges as outdoor classrooms to promote understanding of local environmental issues
Encourage interdisciplinary learning approaches to enhance student academic achievement
Use field experiences and student-led stewardship to connect classroom learning to actual world experiences
Involve partnership of neighborhood schools, local businesses, community groups, and natural resource professionals
To provide funding to organizations with lending libraries to purchase books for young people through grade 12.
Eligibility:
School libraries; public libraries; nonprofits with 501(C)(3) status
Note: Books purchased with grant funds may be fiction or nonfiction, but they must be books for youth 18 or younger. Grant funds must be used for lending libraries. The LLCF does not make grants for: book donation programs, classroom collections, atlases, workbooks or similar texts, encyclopedias, or textbooks.
To provide funding to help applicants implement innovative education programs, activities, lessons, or events to excite students about going green, caring for the earth and creating a sustainable future.

Connecting Mathematics to Other Subject Areas Grants for High School Math Teachers

Purpose:
To support high school teachers who create learning materials that connect mathematics to other areas and disciplines.
Eligibility:
Fulltime teachers of mathematics for grades 9-12 who teach math at least 50% of the school day. In addition, an applicant must be a full individual member or e-member of the NCTM.
