Title I Set-Asides

An amount equal to 20% of a district’s Title I allocation must be set-aside and used for parental Choice Options at schools identified for sanction under NCLB.  These set-aside funds may come from sources other than Title I funds and are allocated as follows:

  • At least 5% must be used for costs associated with providing Choice with Transportation for students to attend a school not identified for sanction under NCLB.

  • At least 5% must be used for supplemental educational services (SES tutoring).

  • 1% of the 20% set aside may be used for parent outreach and notification (mailing and postage costs, copying, etc.)

  • Remaining set-aside funds must be used for Choice with Transportation or SES, to be determined annually based on need.
