What is a Tutor? |
Tutors assist students on an individual basis or in small groups to reinforce basic skills in academic subjects. Placements are made with students from kindergarten through high school and with students in adult and community schools.

What is a Mentor? |
| Mentors work with students one-on-one or in a group setting. They serve as role models, listening friends and caring companions. Mentors provide encouragement and support to assist students in building their self-esteem and learning to make their own decisions. |

Classroom assistants work closely with classroom teachers or staff, assisting in various projects, preparing instructional materials and interacting with students...

What is a Computer Helper? |
Computer helpers share their computer skills and knowledge of various models of computers and software. Volunteers assist students and/or school staff in classrooms or administrative offices.

What does a Office/Clerical assistant do? |
Office/clerical assistants help staff members at a school, administrative center or an adult/community education center. Duties may include typing, computer entry, copying, bookkeeping, record keeping, telephone and switchboard operator, as well as other office work.

What is an Adult Literacy tutor? |
Adult literacy tutors work with adults who are learning basic academic skills and preparing for the GED. Evening hours are available.

What is ESOL? |
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ESOL tutors help students of all ages who speak other languages to learn English. Volunteers do not need to speak the students' native languages.

What does an Activities Volunteer do? |
Activities volunteers lend a hand to support school extracurricular clubs, groups and events. Areas of involvement include participating in organizations such as PTA/PTSA and sports and booster clubs, serving as volunteer coaches and assisting with music and drama programs.

School Advisory Council Member (SAC) SAC members are selected by individual schools to function as resources to assist in developing school improvement goals. Meetings are held once a month.
