A Florida resident, 18 years of age or older, may earn a high school diploma by passing the General Education Development (GED) test. A GED readiness assessment and counseling are available free of charge at all registration centers. The test covers five areas: Language Arts Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts Reading, and Math.
Special editions of the GED tests and special accommodations in testing for candidates with professionally documented emotional, physical or learning disabilities are available to those meeting established criteria. Proper forms documenting the professional's findings must be submitted to the GED Office in Tallahassee for permission for special testing or accommodations. The GED is scheduled throughout the county and pre-registration is required. Candidates must bring the following documents to the test site. All documents must have the same name.
- Current State of Florida Photo ID or Florida driver's license
- Social security card
- Test registration receipt
