Intervention Day Treatment ProgramThe Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) has partnered with Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc. to offer a new Facility-Based Day Treatment (intervention) program in Pinellas County providing educational and DJJ wraparound services to support male and female students ages 12-19; and have been placed on probation, post-commitment probation, conditional release or minimum risk commitment by the court; and who have been assessed as moderately-high or high-risk to re-offend. Eckerd Youth Alternatives Program will serve thirty (30) Pinellas County youth at a private facility provided by Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc in St. Petersburg through a partnership with the district.Educational services, including core academic instruction with opportunities for credit / course recovery in a blended learning environment, will be provided by three (3) full-time teachers and a paraprofessional employed by EAS. Additional itinerant support and Local Educational Agency (LEA) services will also be provided by EAS. Eckerd will provide door-to-door transportation services, case management support, and evidence-based delinquency interventions. Students will receive specialized therapy in the form of small groups to include gender-specific groups; mental health and substance abuse counseling; and moral recognition therapy. Other services to be provided include employability skills and career exploration; life skills and self-sufficiency training; and transition and aftercare planning.
