The University of South Florida Office of Early University Programs offers college classes to qualified high school students in Pinellas County at no cost to the student. These courses allow students to earn credits toward a high school diploma and a college degree.

Dual Enrollment Program at University of South Florida
Dual Enrollment is a part-time program, available to qualified students throughout their high school years. Students may take 1-3 USF classes a semester, conducted on any of its campuses, online, or at selected high schools.
How Do I Qualify?
Students who wish to apply to Dual Enrollment at USF must meet the following criteria:
- The course is not available to take at SPC
- Unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.5
- Meet any additional criteria set by the institution
- Approval by a school counselor/administrator as ready for success at the college level of instruction
- Have a full schedule of 7 active classes per semester, 4 of which must be at Northeast High School
- Have no more than 6 college level classes (DE, AP) per semester
Continued Eligibility
- Students who maintain the minimum continuing eligibility standard and a post-secondary GPA of 2.0 or higher after accruing six (6) credit hours may be allowed to take up to eleven (11) credit hours per semester during future terms.
- Students must earn at least a “C” (2.0) in all dual enrollment courses.
- Maintain a weighted 3.3 GPA on high school transcripts, including dual enrollment course grades.
- Students who receive a “C-“, “D”, “F”, or “W” in any given USF course will not be eligible for dual enrollment the subsequent fall or spring semester.
How Do I Obtain a USF Number?
- Student initiates the application process by completing the USF “Non Degree Seeking” Application. Note: Incomplete applications are not considered.
- You should work with parents to complete the residency section of the application.
- You will get a “Welcome to USF” email that provides your assigned USF number (U#) and instructions of setting up a USF NetID (email). You should set up your NetID and USF email immediately. All USF communications will only be sent to your USF email account.
All students also must comply with the USF Immunization Policy 33-002. Additional information regarding USF Health and Immunization, including instructions on how to submit information online, can be found on the Student Health Services website. Students scan the Immunization and any supporting documents as one pdf file to immunization@usf.edu.
What Test Scores Do I Need to Earn?
Students must meet the following minimum standardized test scores on one of the identified tests as needed for the requested course:
SAT: 560 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 530 for Mathematics
ACT: 21 for Reading and 21 for Mathematics
PERT: 123 for Math, 106 for Reading and 103 for Writing
How Do I Register for Classes?
Step One: Submit the completed and signed USF Dual Enrollment Approval Form to your counselor, who will complete the form.
Step Two: Prioritize a list of course selections with indication of desired campus or online, which have been approved for dual enrollment high school credit. The Schedule Search is useful for finding classes. Students are not actually registered until three weeks before classes begin, so sometimes top choices are not available. Step Three: Approximately three weeks before the semester begins, administrative staff will register student. The student and the school counselor will be notified after registration has been completed.

Early Admission Program at University of South Florida
Early Admission is a form of dual enrollment whereby eligible high school students are admitted to USF as fulltime students for fall and spring semester of their high school senior year. During the early admission year, students take 12-15 credits each semester. The courses they take earn credit toward both a baccalaureate degree and completion of the high school diploma.
While many of the policies and procedures for early admission are the same as for regular dual enrollment, early admission students have different qualifications, as well as a few different application steps and deadlines.
How Do I Qualify?
Students who wish to apply to Early Admission at USF must meet the following criteria:
- Have senior standing at the start of fall semester
- Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.8 as calculated by USF
- Submit a complete USF Application for Admission
- Submit a personal letter outlining reasons for seeking Early Admission to USF
- Submit an Early Admission Approval Form
- Interview with the Director of Early University Programs
How Do I Obtain a USF Number?

How Do I Register for Classes?
Step One: Submit the completed and signed Early Admission Approval Form to your counselor, who will complete the form. The counselor submits a list of courses, or any other school or district requirements, needed by the student during the Early Admission year in order to complete all high school graduation requirements.
Step Two: All Early Admission students are supported by an academic advisor. Academic advisors guide Early Admission students to select courses that complete their high school graduation requirement as well as serving the course of study for their intended college major.
