Important Information About Math TutoringDear Parents,The CFMS math department is glad to see so many students taking advantage of after school tutoring. Now that we are up and running, we did want to take a moment to clarify how after school tutoring works. Students should come to after school tutoring sessions prepared to work independently or collaboratively with their classmates. If they are having difficulty, they should come prepared to ask specific questions. We are filling our classrooms to capacity and it is important that students come in prepared to work. This is not a social hour; nor it is an opportunity for students to come in and have a lesson retaught. If a student missed a lesson due to absence, they should make every attempt to complete what they can before coming in for additional assistance. There are numerous websites out there that can also help including the textbook websites. Kahn Academy is a wonderful resource for students to view lessons if they missed them in class. Students can join for free at http://www.khanacademy.org or they can even type the name of the lesson that they've missed into Google and get direct access to the video lessons without having to log in or sign up. It is very important that students be in math class so that they do not fall behind. We understand that students do get sick, so we'd like to let them know of additional resources that are out there to help them if they need it.
Again, we are thrilled with the turnout that we have had and want students to get the help that they need. However, we also need them to be considerate of teachers' time and their classmates that are truly there to work. Thank you all for your support of the mathematics curriculum.
