Donnika Jones

Chief Academic Office

Donnika Jones has served as Chief Academic Officer for Pinellas County Schools since July 2024. A dedicated educator and instructional leader, she brings deep experience in teaching, school leadership and district transformation, along with a strong commitment to advancing student achievement and supporting schools. 

Jones began her career with Pinellas County Schools in 2004 as a classroom teacher at Douglas L. Jamerson Elementary School, where she served for 12 years. She later transitioned into school leadership, serving as Assistant Principal at Bear Creek Elementary School and Melrose Elementary School before being named Principal of Melrose Elementary in 2018. During her tenure as principal, she led efforts to strengthen instructional practices, support student growth and build a culture of excellence. 

In 2022, Ms. Jones was appointed Chief Transformation Officer, where she led strategic efforts focused on improving systems, advancing district initiatives and supporting schools through meaningful change. In July 2024, she transitioned into the role of Chief Academic Officer, where she supports districtwide teaching and learning initiatives and works to ensure students have access to high-quality educational opportunities. 

Ms. Jones earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from St. Petersburg College and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.
