Dr. Dywayne B. Hinds, Sr., joined the Pinellas County School District in July 2013.  He began his teaching career in the Hillsborough County Public School District in 1998.  During his tenure in Hillsborough County, he served as a teacher of Students with Severe Emotional Disabilities (SED) (1998-2003), ESE Department Head (2000-2003), and Lead Teacher (2003-2004) at Greco Middle School; an Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Davidsen Middle School (2004- 2006) and Ferrell Middle Magnet School (2006-2009).  Eventually, he took a job in Osceola County, where he served as Principal at Horizon Middle School (2009-2013) and Westside K-8 School (January 2013-June 2013).  After years of success in the role as an administrator, Dr. Hinds was appointed to the position of Executive Director of Middle School Education within the Pinellas County School District in July 2013.  He served in that role until his recent appointment as Area Superintendent for Area 3 Schools within the Pinellas County School District in January of 2021.

Dr. Hinds earned his Bachelor's degree in Emotionally Handicapped at the University of South Florida (1998); his Master's degree in Varying Exceptionalities at Nova Southeastern University (2000); his Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at National Louis University (2003); and his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership at National Louis University (2017).

Dr. Hinds has been a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. since 1995.  Additionally, he has been an active member of Rivers of Life Church Ministries located in Brandon, Florida since 2003.    

Dr. Hinds was born in Bartow, Florida (Polk County).  Shortly after his birth, his family moved to South Bay, Florida (Palm Beach County).  He was in the first graduating class of Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts (formerly known as the Palm Beach County School of the Arts).

Dr. Hinds has a wife (Latanya) who is a professional educator and they are the proud parents of one child (Dywayne Jr.)
