Keith Mastorides

Keith Mastorides is an innovative and enthusiastic leader whose career in education spans more than three decades.

Before he was appointed to lead TIS in 2021, he served 15 years as principal of his alma mater, Clearwater High, where he was responsible for tremendous academic and program growth. During his service, the school’s graduation rate rose from 60 percent to a record high of 98.3 percent.

Mastorides collaborated with his Clearwater High community to create a diverse student-leadership program called the Freedom Ambassadors that focused on the Civil Rights Movement and culminated in a student-planned trip to historic Civil Rights sites.

Mastorides also expanded career and student leadership opportunities at Clearwater High, implementing Wall-to-Wall Academies, which incorporated industry certifications and multiple career academies.

Under Mastorides’ leadership, Clearwater High was recognized five times as a Model School by the International Center for Leadership and Education (ICLE). The Pinellas Education Foundation twice designated the school as an Exemplary Wall-to-Wall Academy Model and FORD Next Generation Learning named Clearwater High a Model School. The Washington Post also named Clearwater High the Most Rigorous Public High School in Pinellas County four times.

As a principal, Mastorides trained in best practices in Quality Concepts, School Improvement, Rigor, Relevance and Relationships Frameworks, Creating Independence through Student-owned Strategies (CRISS), Effective Assessment, and Performance Excellence for all Kids (PEAK) and New Leaders.

Mastorides earned an Associates in Arts Degree from St. Petersburg College in 1989 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida College of Education in 1991. While at USF, he also earned a certification to teach students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). Mastorides joined the district as an ESE teacher at Tarpon Springs Middle School and served as an ESE and Varying Exceptionalities Specialist at Dunedin Highland Middle.

In 1997, Mr. Mastorides earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. The following year, Mr. Mastorides was named the assistant principal at Palm Harbor University High where he oversaw curriculum and instruction for eight years.

In his free time, Mr. Mastorides is the director of the Hellas Dancers of Holy Trinity. The Clearwater Greek dance troupe specializes in authentic Greek folk dances from all over Greece, and has performed, competed, and taught workshops all over the nation.
