Stephanie Long

Chief Student Support Officer

Stephanie Long

Stephanie Long began her career as an emotional and behavioral disabilities teacher in Hillsborough County in 1991. In her 28 years as an educator, she has been privileged to work with students and staff in various special education settings, including roles with the Hillsborough County, Martin County, St. Lucie and Pinellas County school districts. She has spent the majority of her career in the areas of emotional/behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities and Autism, with a strong focus on behavioral support and improving outcomes for all students.

Upon leaving the special education classroom, Stephanie never lost connection to that work or mission. In 2005, she took on the role of District Resource Teacher, followed by ESE Coordinator for Pinellas County Schools. From 2009 to 2010, Long served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida in the areas of behavior management and functional assessment.

In 2017, Stephanie moved to Pasco County Schools to work as Supervisor for Low Prevalence Programs. After documented success, she was promoted to Senior Supervisor for Special Programs and held this position until she was appointed to the Assistant Director over Special Programs and Student Services. In this position, Stephanie improved large-system work throughout the ESE and Student Services divisions.

Stephanie rejoined Pinellas County Schools in 2023 as the Chief Student Support Officer. Her division encompasses the Exceptional Student Education, Educational Alternative Services, School Climate and Behavior, and Student Services departments.

As a lifelong Pinellas resident, she was excited to return to the district where she grew up and where her children were raised.

Stephanie earned her undergraduate degree in behavioral disorders from the University of South Florida and a master’s in educational leadership from Florida Gulf Coast University.
