School Board Vote
At its February 24, 2026 meeting, the Pinellas County Schools Board approved several strategic decisions designed to address enrollment trends and ensure responsible use of district resources. The Board voted to close Cross Bayou Elementary and Disston Academy at the end of the school year, merge Bay Point Elementary and Bay Point Middle into a K-8 school, expand Oldsmar Elementary to a K-8 model, and grow the employee childcare program at McMullen-Booth Elementary. These actions follow months of planning and community engagement focused on strengthening academic programs and improving operational efficiency.
