Kevin K. Hendrick has served as Superintendent of Pinellas County Schools since 2022. Under his leadership, Pinellas County Schools has become one of the top-performing school districts in the state, earning three consecutive “A” district grades from the Florida Department of Education. A well-respected educational and community leader, he is committed to improving student achievement, fostering collaboration and building a culture of excellence.

Twice during his tenure, the district implemented a three-year strategic plan focused on six priorities and committed to making the plan results transparent for all stakeholders. It emphasizes the student experience in schools and improving employee satisfaction.

Shortly after becoming superintendent, Mr. Hendrick was named a Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association, a national recognition honoring emerging district leaders. He believes the best ideas come from listening, building trust and empowering others as evidenced by initiatives such as Listen & Learn sessions and the district's PCS Praise employee recognition program.

Before being named superintendent, Mr. Hendrick served as Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Services for five years. During that time, the district achieved a record-high graduation rate among Florida's largest school districts and posted consistent gains in English Language Arts and Mathematics. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led the district's transition to remote instruction, ensuring every student had access to a device and internet connectivity. He also expanded access to early learning, strengthened literacy initiatives, developed personalized pathways to college success for high-achieving students, and championed resources to support the district's growing Hispanic community and English learners.

Prior to his Teaching and Learning role, Mr. Hendrick served as Director of High School Education and spent nine years as principal of Northeast High School. Under his leadership, Northeast High earned its first A and B school grades in its history and received national recognition for preparing students for success in college and careers.

A lifelong Pinellas County resident and Largo High School graduate, Mr. Hendrick began his career with Pinellas County Schools in 1997 as a teacher at Pinellas Park High School and later at Dunedin High. Throughout his career, he has served as a teacher, basketball coach, athletic director, assistant principal and district leader.

Mr. Hendrick's contributions to public education have earned numerous honors, including recognition as one of the Tampa Bay Business Journal's Power 100, celebrating the region's most influential leaders; the University of South Florida’s Dean’s Lifetime Achievement Award; the Florida Music Educators Association Superintendent of the Year in 2026; the Florida Art Educators Association Superintendent of the Year in 2025; the Governor's Shine Award; the district's Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership in 2016 and 2017; and recognition as a finalist for Florida Principal of the Year in 2017.

Mr. Hendrick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida, as well as a Master of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
