Arts

Elementary magnet schools that focus on the Arts provide students with opportunities to imagine, design, and innovate in creative environments. The arts themed magnet programs expose students to a variety of arts, culture, and more as they develop their interests and passions. Student use the arts to help create meaning and demonstrate understanding. Pinellas County offers the following arts-themed magnet elementary school programs:

Communications, Journalism, and Multimedia

The Journalism program equips students with valuable life skills that will serve them no matter what their future pursuits. Students become confident writers, trained photographers, effective communicators and informed, involved citizens as they explore all aspects of evolving media, including digital technology. Students develop confidence through print, podcasting and TV publication of their work.

Dual Language Program

Our Dual Language Immersion Programs offer students the opportunity to become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in both English and Spanish. In our 50/50 instructional model, students receive 50% of their instruction in Spanish and 50% in English. Through a carefully crafted curriculum, English-dominant and Spanish-dominant students are integrated to develop proficiency in both languages while gaining an appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives.

Pinellas County’s Fundamental Programs offer students a family oriented, structured environment. Parent-teacher-student commitment to a quality education enables growth in the areas of responsibility and self- discipline. Gifted

Our Centers for Gifted Studies offer gifted students in grades 1 - 5 an opportunity for full-time gifted services. Students will learn from gifted endorsed teachers, collaborate with gifted classmates and experience advanced, accelerated curriculum in the areas they need to help them grow their gifts and talents. This program focuses on who your child is as a gifted learner, not just what they can do.

Health and Wellness

Lakewood Elementary Center for the Creative Arts, Health, and Wellness facilitates and accelerates learning through habits of the body, mind, and heart. Scholars learn to care for the body through fitness, nutrition, culinary arts, movement, dance, and theatre; the mind through rigorous academic tasks, self-regulation, and mindfulness; and the heart through development of healthy coping strategies, a sense of well-being, connectedness, and caring relationships. Community partnerships include St. Petersburg Ballet Conservatory and Morean Arts Center.

International Studies/ IB PYP

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) encourages children to explore the world with curiosity, using big ideas and real‑life connections to build deep understanding International Baccalaureate. Literacy Innovation

The Centers for Literacy Innovation (CLI) in Pinellas County Schools provide a systematic, multi-sensory, and structured approach to literacy instruction, designed especially for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges. Highly trained teachers deliver targeted interventions in reading, writing, and math through whole‑group, small‑group, and one‑on‑one instruction. Student progress is closely monitored, and instruction is continually adjusted to support strong, lasting growth in literacy skills.

Montessori

Gulfport Elementary's Montessori program blends the Montessori method’s emphasis on independence, hands‑on learning, and mixed‑age classrooms with the accessibility of a tuition‑free public education.
