School Advisory Councils

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a formally established body of stakeholders at each public school site in Pinellas County. The SAC serves as an advisory body to the principal on general school operations and functions as the final decision-making authority at the school level for matters related to school improvement and accountability.

A primary responsibility of the SAC is to develop, review, and monitor the School Improvement Plan (SIP), ensuring it reflects the identified needs of the school and is grounded in data-driven decision-making. In support of this work, the SAC also oversees the allocation and use of designated school improvement funds, ensuring resources are directed toward strategies that align with the SIP and promote student achievement.

The SAC plays an important role in fostering communication and collaboration among the school, families, and the broader community. Through this work, the SAC helps ensure that school improvement efforts are collaborative, data-informed, and locally driven, while remaining aligned with state accountability requirements and district governance structures.
