Becoming a New Volunteer

Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a Pinellas County Schools volunteer.  We appreciate you joining us and supporting our vision of 100% student success.

All Pinellas County Schools volunteers are required to undergo Level 2 background screening.  Level 2 background screenings for Pinellas County Schools are exclusively provided by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Clearinghouse.

Please use the step-by-step process below to guide you through the New Volunteer Process.

Steps to Become a New Level 2 Volunteer

*Please note this process is for new volunteers only. Current volunteers should click here to learn about and complete the Clearinghouse transition process.*

STEP 1: Register as a new volunteer by completing the volunteer registration form. 

• When you register, our team will check to see if you already have current, active fingerprints in the FDLE Clearinghouse.  If you do have current, active fingerprints, you skip Steps 2 & 3 and automatically move to Step 4.

STEP 2: Watch for an email from the Clearinghouse (no-reply@flclearinghouse.com) with instructions to fingerprint.

• Please print or save a copy of this email.  You will need to bring it with you to your fingerprinting appointment.

STEP 3: Complete a fingerprint scan at any Live Scan Vendor.  Fingerprint costs range from $75 - $90 depending on the vendor.

• You can find your closest fingerprint vendor by entering your zip code on the Certifix Live Scan website or see our preferred vendor list below.
• Remember to bring a copy of a government-issued photo ID to your fingerprinting appointment.
• Please note that your photo will be taken as part of your fingerprint scan.

STEP 4: Receive your eligibility email from Pinellas County Schools

• This email will provide you with your username and password to access your volunteer account at volunteer.pcsb.org, as well as a copy of your volunteer handbook.
• The email will also contain steps to pick up your Level 2 Badge.

STEP 5: Pick up your Level 2 Badge.

• Your Level 2 Badge must be worn at all times while at PCS events or on PCS campuses.
• If your fingerprints were scanned at the Pinellas County Schools Admin Building, your badge will be ready for pick-up at your selected school location.
• If your fingerprints were scanned at any other location, check the email from Step 4 for locations to pick up your Level 2 badge.
