Carlos Childs - 2025-2026 Support Employee of the Year

Carlos Childs, Family & Community Liaison at Campbell Park Elementary, was named 2025-2026 PCS Support Employee of the Year.

Childs, along with other Support Employee of the Year semi-finalists and finalists, was recognized at the Support Employee of the Year awards luncheon. The event was held on Dec. 5 at the Dr. Michael A. Grego Leadership Institute.

Next, Childs will be nominated as the district’s representative for the Florida School-Related Employee of the Year.

He began his career in the district as a teacher assistant in 2003 at John Hopkins Middle School and has held various roles at Campbell Park Elementary. In addition to fostering positive relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members, Mr. Childs actively supports literacy and achievement initiatives at Campbell Park, where he reads to students and celebrates their accomplishments.

As co-chair of the 5000 Role Models program, he mentors new liaisons and helps establish chapters at other schools. He takes on various roles such as backup DMT, secretary, hospitality lead, and behavior specialist, while effectively managing multiple responsibilities.

After learning he was a finalist for the award, Childs shared his surprise during an interview. It was a shock to receive the recognition, he said, adding that he felt appreciated and valued for his work.

"What makes my job special here at Campbell Park Elementary? I get the opportunity to work with all the scholars and the staff at Campbell Park," Childs said.

He enjoys various tasks, such as working with mentors and volunteers, as well as organizing school assemblies. His work is especially meaningful to him because he grew up in the neighborhood.

"I have a chance to give back to my community by working here at the school," he said.

"One of my favorite things to do here at Campbell Park is the holidays and making sure that all of our families get a special Christmas with gifts and stuff to open up on Christmas Day."

His work at Campbell Park is truly impactful because he grew up in the neighborhood, giving him the opportunity to give back to his community.

"This job feeds my soul because I get to see these scholars smile, and that's one of the biggest things that I truly enjoy every day, doing something that can make a difference in their lives."
