Please review the 2026-27 FAFSA Checklist to determine who needs to contribute to the FAFSA and who will need an FSA ID as well as what documents you need to have a successful FAFSA submission. Once you determine who needs an FSA ID, go to Create an Account to get started.

How do I get started with the FAFSA?

Before the application opens: Create your FSA ID. When you are ready to complete your FAFSA, go to fafsa.gov to begin. For more tips, check out 8 Steps to Filling out the FAFSA Form and the FAFSA Guide for Parents
