Please have your student write down their schedule for you to follow that evening. Our teachers are looking forward to meeting with you and sharing what your students are learning in their classes. Our doors will open and we will be hosting our PTA General Assembly at 5:30 that evening in the cafeteria. Please come and be a part of this important process. On Thursday we will be doing our fall fundraiser kick off. We are excited this year to partner with Step It Up Kids. This year as a school we are sponsoring this Ninja Warrior Field Day event. It requires no selling of items just donations. Information will be coming home with students on Thursday. There is a quick turnaround for the golden ticket to return on Friday. Students that complete this task are eligible for immediate prizes. Please stay tuned. All of the proceeds of this fundraiser support our school wide PBIS program. Proceeds from this may be used to purchase awards, incentives, snacks, PHMS gear, and activity items for our panther pad, celebrations, supplies and competitions throughout the year. This includes incentives for the entire school faculty and student body. All monies go back to the school.

Lastly, we are collecting for our Panther closet. This service is provided for our students in need. This is a donation closet of new or gently used clothing items or school supplies. Please contact our volunteer coordinator Jackie Bersch for further information.

    Good Evening Panther Families,

This is Melissa Athanson, principal of Palm Harbor Middle.

Our students have had another amazing week here at Palm Harbor. They are doing a fabulous job exemplifying the Panther Way in all that they do. We have tryouts this week for students interested in cheerleading and volleyball. All students interested in trying out for any sport must have all paperwork submitted prior to trying out. Cheerleading tryouts are Tuesday at 4:15 in the gym. 6th graders interested in volleyball will tryout from 4:30-5:30 on Thursday and 7th and 8th graders will tryout on Friday from 4:30-5:30. Parents, these tryouts are closed which means parents are not permitted to attend. You can pick up your student in the car circle at 5:30.

This week we will be balancing classes and making necessary adjustments to our student’s schedules. We do this every year and make as few changes as necessary. If you student has been waiting for a schedule change this will be the time that we begin to look and adjust these requests.

We are continuing to address dress code. Please review our school dress code that is posted on our school’s website. Remember that all shorts / skirts must be at fingertips and any holes in pants need to be below the fingertip level

Parents I just want to remind you again to be courteous of our neighbors. Many parents are using the surrounding neighborhoods to pick up their students and are blocking the driveways and streets preventing the flow of traffic. Our car line process is working and we continue to speed up the process as you and your students move to the very front of the car line to pick up your students.

Thank you as always for your support and have a wonderful weekend.

    Good Evening Panther Families,

This is Melissa Athanson, principal of Palm Harbor Middle.

Parents and students I want to thank you for a wonderful opening. Our students did an amazing job this week. Please make sure that you return all of the forms to school as soon as possible. If your student receives free or reduced lunch it is important to turn this in within the first 30 days. As of Monday students are expected to have a locker and are not permitted to carry a back pack with them to class.

It is time for volleyball & cheerleading season. We will have a Parent / student information meeting on Monday 8/19 @ 4:15 in the gym. Information regarding volleyball & cheerleading and its requirements will be posted on our website. Students must have all paperwork submitted prior to trying out for any school sport.

Please review our school dress code that is posted on our school’s website – we will be addressing all students who are out of dress code starting on Monday. Remember that all shorts / skirts must be at fingertips and any holes in pants need to be below the fingertip level. Also, shirts must have sleeves and shoes must have backs.

Parents, I want to remind you that when you enter our school you must follow the flow of the car line. We are seeing multiple cars enter through the exit and are attempting to go in the car line through the wrong direction. Also, the gate to our back car circle does not open prior to 3:30. Please do not come prior to this time to line up as it blocks our traffic pattern for people needing to pick up students for appointments. We also ask that you are courteous of our neighbors. Many parents are using the surrounding neighborhoods to pick up their students and are blocking the driveways and streets preventing the flow of traffic. This is not permitted and signs are posted at the entrances of many streets. Local law enforcement will be issuing citations.

Thank you as always for your support and have a wonderful weekend.
