    Good Evening Panthers,

This is Principal Melissa Athanson calling with our final message of the 2019-2020 school year. When we started in August no one could have ever guessed we would be finishing in this manner. Our students, staff, families and community partners have been exceptional this year. The resiliency that was shown by everyone demonstrates our strength as a school and community. This week coming up we will have our process for retrieving your students’ locker contents, yearbook if you previously purchased one and gradventure refunds if applicable. We do not have any additional yearbooks for sale. We ask that you return any textbooks, library books, instruments or track uniforms at this time. If you were issued a digital device please hold on to those as that will be collected at the distribution sites at a later time.

For our 8th grade students I will be sending out a link to our 8th grade video and a link to the awards video for those students who are being recognized.

If you have two or more children that attend the school we ask that you just make one trip and we will accommodate your needs at that time. Thank you again for an amazing school year and we look forward to seeing you in the fall. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at athansonm@pcsb.org

Good Evening Panther Families. I want to thank everyone for all of their patience, work and support during this unprecedented time. I wanted to inform every one of our close out procedures. Unfortunately students are not permitted to come into the building to retrieve their items from their lockers so our school staff has cleaned out and bagged all student lockers including their PE lockers. We will be distributing all of their items including yearbooks on the following dates. Additionally, this is the time to return any items you may have that belong to the school. This includes: textbooks, library books, track and cheerleading uniforms, etc. If you have a computer that we issued you there will be a separate time and location to return those items. We ask families to come at the following days and times to pick up their students belongings.

    Panthers,

Thank you families for another amazing week in digital learning. This week we celebrate teacher appreciation week. If you have a chance please send the teachers a quite note of thanks, e-gift card, picture, whatever you can think of J You can also send me pictures or notes that your child has done and I will send them out to the staff. My email address is: athansonm@pcsb.org .

As we enter May it is hard to fathom that this is the way our school year will end with empty halls and classrooms. All of us miss seeing the students every day. While I know we are nearing the end of the school year it is extremely important that all students log in and attend classes every day. This marking period does count and is averaged into your student’s grades. Let’s end with success!

Many of you have reached out asking about student lockers and items you wish to retrieve. At this point we are working on a plan to return all items and are looking at the last week of school for this to take place. During this time we will issue yearbooks, take back track uniforms, instruments, you name it, this will be the time for it to occur. As we get closer to this I will be sending out specific details for each grade level.

Thank you and have a safe and healthy weekend.

    Good evening Panther families,

Thank you all for another fabulous week!!! This week in digital learning our Teams platform seems to be working much better. Thank you to everyone for your patience while we get up to speed. Parents, I want to stress the importance of students needing to check in to every class every day for attendance.

I want to thank all of the families and students that sent in pictures of their students “staying safe” I am glad to know that so many are keeping themselves safe and healthy. If you haven’t had a chance please check out our facebook page for all of the pictures.

This week we are looking for students and their pets!!! Show off your student and their favorite pet. We want to see who is keeping you company while you are doing your school work.

Parents, many of you have reached out asking to retrieve your student’s belongings from their lockers. Currently, we must follow the CDC guidelines and stay at home. Once this is lifted or we receive notice that we can allow students back into the building we will notify everyone. Again, thank you for your patience and flexibility. Please know we are here for you and happy to assist in any way just reach out. Stay safe.

    Good evening Panther families,

Thank you all for another fabulous week!!! Each day we are getting better at using this digital platform. Thank you to everyone for all of the feedback; we have shared your concerns with Microsoft and it appears as if the system is working better.

All students have access to Office 365 for free. They can access this through the website or can download it for free on their home computer. If a student was issued a school computer it is already downloaded for them. If you need help or are not sure how to access this site please follow the link for directions: https://web.microsoftstream.com/video/17af295a-d3fb-45f1-9e59-b81802e2bc87

I want to thank all of the families and students that sent in pictures of their “new classrooms.” It was great to see some familiar faces. If you haven’t had a chance please check out our facebook page for all of the pictures.

This week we are looking for students demonstrating their safety protocols. We want pictures of students with their protective masks on. It is important for all of us to do our part in keeping everyone safe so let’s see your contribution.

Again, thank you for your patience and flexibility. Please know we are here for you and happy to assist in any way just reach out. Stay safe & have a relaxing three day weekend.

    Good evening Panther families,

This is Melissa Athanson, Principal of Palm Harbor Middle calling with some pertinent information.

First, I want to take this time to thank all of you for your patience and understanding as we made our way through this first week on the digital platform. Our school district has been working tirelessly with Microsoft to help rectify some of these issues we have come across. We are all in this together and understand this is a process that has a huge learning curve. Please stick with it and I assure you, we will master this forum.

In order to try and keep our connection to our students and them with us we will be holding weekly themes. This coming week our theme is “My new classroom.” Have your student take a picture of them in their new space & email the pictures to me directly. We will post these daily on our facebook page. I cannot tell you enough how much we miss having the student interaction each day.

As you are aware, Teams at times gets overwhelmed and assignments are unable to download or upload. I ask that you continue to try but in the meantime I am asking all of my teachers to have their assignments available on their FOCUS accounts or through their Clever page. I am asking that teachers provide you with at least two different avenues to retrieve and turn in work. They will communicate this if they haven’t already though their posts in their Team.

Parents, we realize your schedules are busy and the school day is not what it was. In order to try an account for every student we ask that you have your student at least log in and have their attendance taken in each class by 12 each day. You can then go in later or earlier and complete your assignments.

To my 8th grade parents, many of you have reached out regarding Gradventure. We have requested a refund from Universal and will be in contact with those parents once we have information.

Lastly, Sunday April 5th is the last day to purchase yearbooks online. Go to YearbookOrderCenter.com and enter code 2479 or choose our school from the drop down. Also, there is no school on April 10th. This day was already designed as a non- student day.

Again, Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this first week of digital learning. Please know we are here for you and happy to assist in any way just reach out.

We are here to help as much as possible and ask that if you have concerns regarding technology or accessing it to email the administrators directly. Our school facility is closed as we are in compliance with the stay-at-home order. We are doing our best to return emails within the same day if at all possible.

If you were unable to come and get a digital device they are being distributed on Friday and Monday at specific sites within the district. You must contact one of us as we need to complete an online form prior to you picking up the device.

All classes begin on Monday March 30th. Teachers will be online and available to help from 9:00-11:30 and again from 1:00- 3:30. It is expected that every day students are to log in to each class and have their attendance taken. Teachers will post in their classes their syllabus, online class expectations and procedures. I have accessed many of my teachers sites and am blown away with all they have created and how so many of our

students are already online and getting into the groove of things. Parents I ask you monitor your students learning and participation especially as we begin this new endeavor. Your participation in your student’s success is even more important than ever. Together we can do this. As a parent, educator and principal I am seeing how strong our community is and how much we are helping and doing for one another. Please continue and never hesitate to ask for assistance. That is what we are here for. I will not be sharing messages weekly on Sundays but will do them as pertinent information is released and shared. Please stay safe and know that we are all looking forward to when we can all be back together as a school in our building.
