It’s time to make a decision about your commencement and graduation options.  For students planning to graduate from your zoned school in time for the Spring Commencement, you MUST be deemed as on-track by April 16, 2021 by Mrs. Hughes-Leeks!  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. Mrs. Hughes-Leeks will work directly with you to finalize your decision and notify the appropriate contacts at Disston Academy and/or your zoned school.

    Graduation Timeline

As a potential graduate in the Class of 2021 you and your parent have several decisions to make in a short timeframe.  The first decision you will need to make is determining if you will graduate from Disston Academy or from your zoned high school.  This decision is based upon three factors:

    1. Are you on-track completely (FSA ELA Score, Algebra I EOC, Geometry EOC, Biology EOC, US History EOC, GPA and credits)?
    2. Did you complete the senior survey and notify Disston Academy of your preference by no later than April 23, 2021?
    3. Has the principal of your zoned school agreed to allow you to participate in their graduation process?

    Graduation Fees

Each school has required graduation fees.  These fees typically range from $130-$200 to cover the expense of graduation regalia, activities and the ceremony.  If you gain approval to graduate from your zoned school, you will have the opportunity to pay your graduation fees directly to that school.

If you plan to graduate from Disston Academy, our graduation fee is $100.00 and is due May 13, 2021.  The graduation fee covers the following expenses:

Cap and Gown regalia (includes one tassel, school medallion and school cord)

    Senior Breakfast

    Awards Night

    Senior Picnic

Senior Class Shirt and Gift Bag

If you plan to graduate from your zone school or do not plan to participate in any commencement ceremony but would like to also participate in the senior festivities (breakfast, picnic, awards ceremony, and senior class shirt/gift) the fee is $40.00.  All fees should be paid to Ms. Mobley, school secretary/bookkeeper in the form of cash, cashier’s check or money order.  NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
