• Family and Consumer Sciences

    Family and Consumer Sciences formely known as Home Economics offer a variety of courses during the school year. These life-skill classes will help prepare students for the many challenges of living in the "real world"

    A student may elect to take Nutrition and Wellness. This course is offered to every grade level. It teaches the importance of good nutrition, proper excercise, and maitenance of the body. A demonstration and tasting lab is offered each week. This course is a prerequisite for Principles of Food.

    Other classes offered through this department include Principles of Food Preparation and Child Development. The Foods course involves a weekly foods lab where students prepare a variety of foods. Planning meals and understanding how to follow recipes is emphasized.

    The Child Development course teaches about pregnancy, birth, and developmental stages of children through six years of age. The couse also teaches the responsibilities of parenthood re-enforced by caring for Bay-Think-It-Over babies for several days.
