Dixie Hollins' cosmetology program provides students with classroom and salon instruction, and strives to help students develop the necessary skills needed to be well-trained professionals.
There are nine levels in the cosmetology program and its recommended students start their cosmetology classes in 9th or 10th grade to complete the program and apply for licensure.
A shorter Facials Specialty program with three levels to complete is offered for 11th grade students that would like to earn certification as a registered Facial Specialist.
Lab activities are an important part of this program. Kits are required by level 4 to enhance the success and hands-on experience for students.
The lab is open to the public by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling (727)547-7876. ext. 2065 There is a small fee for services that is used to buy supplies for the program.
This program may be used to qualify a student for the Bright Futures/Gold Seal Scholarship, providing all eligibility requirements are met.
Cosmetology course levels 4-9 meet the Fine Arts/Practical Arts credit for high school graduation.
