CEC Suncoast Chapter #176 is pleased to inform you that funds have once again been allocated to provide one week camping scholarships (no more than $300) to exceptional students, including gifted. This is the 30th year for this worthwhile scholarship program that has assisted over 525 students in receiving rewarding summer camp experiences. Scholarships are based on need for financial assistance and need for a summer camp/recreation experience.
Attached is a camp scholarship application. Please make the application available to your ESE staff. Due to the number of applicants submitted in the past, we are asking that you refer only one candidate from your school unless you are an exceptional center. Please complete all items on the application and email the entire application and all letters to firstname.lastname@example.org. It is very important that all signatures be obtained and that the camp/recreation program choices as well as the location and the cost are indicated on the application form (see item #5). It is the responsibility of the nominator in conjunction with the parent to choose and contact an appropriate camp and to obtain this information. We do not have any direct involvement with any of the camps parents might select and cannot give advice as to accommodations or information.
The CEC Suncoast Chapter 176 Board will review completed applications returned on or before May 12, 2017 and make the final selection. If your candidate is selected for a camp scholarship, additional information will be sent to the nominator via an email. Funds are limited so we try to provide this opportunity to a wide range of students.
