The CHS Students Targeted for Educational Performance (S.T.E.P.) program is for students enrolled in 9th through 11th grade. The S.T.E.P. program provides a school-based supportive structure for minority students in order to optimize academic achievement through encouragement, support, and guidance. Qualifying students maintain a cumulative 2.5 or higher GPA and/or FCAT scores that fall within level 3 in reading and/or math, or similar concordant scores . S.T.E.P. encourages students to take advanced level challenging courses, become informed about career choices, college selections, scholarships, and take part in all phases of school and community life.
