ESOL

The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services support students whose first language is not English, so they can fully participate and succeed in all academic subjects. In accordance with Florida law, eligible English Learners (ELs) in grades K–12 receive instruction that develops their English proficiency while providing equal access to the grade-level curriculum and school services.

ESOL services in our district include language-rich instruction using research-based ESOL strategies, appropriate accommodations based on each student’s proficiency level, and ongoing assessment of English language development. Collaborating with families and honoring students’ linguistic backgrounds are central to our work, as we help every multilingual learner thrive in our Florida schools. The district is committed to ensuring that English Learners thrive academically and socially in every classroom, and to partnering closely with their families through clear communication, meaningful engagement opportunities, and access to language support services.
