The state's ESE Parent Survey is underway

Feb. 5, 2026 - Each year, the Florida Department of Education surveys parents of children receiving special education services to determine how well their children’s schools are partnering with them.

Charter Participation

Charter School Participation in Grants

Opting in to Participation
Each spring, charter schools will have the option to participate in Title grants. Additionally, charter schools will be notified and given the option to participate in new grants as they become available. This process happens through consultation.

Needs Assessment
Charter schools will complete a Needs Assessment for any grant opportunities, even reoccurring ones just like PCS schools and departments. PCS will provide an annual template for charter schools to use. The Needs Assessment will also contain a budget narrative. These budgets will be included in grant applications. Changes to the Needs Assessment and/or the budget narrative require an amendment to the FDOE which PCS will submit.

Reimbusement
LEA's reimburse charters for pre-approved grant activities. All activities must meet R.A.N criteria (Reasonable, Allocable, Necessary), meet criteria in 2CFR Part 200, and meet the requirements of the particular grant. The charter reimbursement process for PCS is explained in detail on the Charter Reimbursement Page.

Amendments

Amendments will occur in Fall, Winter and Spring and schools will receive email notification the month prior so they will have an opportunity to request changes to their budget. Amendments are necessary if you wish to make a change to your last approved budget. Amendments are optional, not required.

Please see this handout for specifics related to the amendment process
