Pinellas County Schools Summer Reading Tips
Summer reading builds literacy skills, expands vocabulary and broadens student perspectives. Students are encouraged to read books that interest them, including fiction and non-fiction. We suggest that families consider books from the Florida Department of Education’s grade-level reading lists.
Reading BINGO
Click on the Library Media BINGO Card and complete all 9 squares on the bingo card for a chance to win additional copies of the Focus Five books for Battle of the Books for your school! Submit the Bingo Card Entries are due by 8/9/2026.
Middle School 2026 Summer Reading Challenge
- Log into Clever and select the Middle School Summer Reading Challenge tab.
- Click on the link for the grade level you will be entering for the 2026-27 school year.
- Complete the Escape Room activities for your assigned book:
- 6th Grade: Restart by Gordon Korman
- 7th and 8th Grade: City Spies by James Ponti
- After finishing the Escape Room, you will be prompted to complete a Form. This will let us know where to send your prize once the 2026-27 school year begins.
- Don’t miss out on the year-long challenges. Once you finish the Summer Reading Challenge, click HERE for Grade 6 and HERE for Grades 7 and 8 to learn more!
- iReady for Reading
If you had access through Clever during the 2025–26 school year, complete and pass 15 lessons between June 1 and July 15 to earn a prize.
