Florida Statute 1003.42 requires instruction on specific topics, including "Civic and character education on the qualities and responsibilities of patriotism and citizenship, including kindness; respect for authority, life, liberty, and personal property; honesty; charity; racial, ethnic, and religious tolerance; and cooperation" Pinellas County Schools meets this requirement, in part, with a monthly character education newsletter and providing schools with monthly character education posters.
