• Update 10-12-21

    Good afternoon, Spartan Families,

Please review the following updates and reminders and have a wonderful rest of the week.

    Sincerely,

    Erin Phelps, Principal

PSAT is tomorrow, October 13th: All 8th grade students will sit for the PSAT 8/9 Wednesday, October 13th.  The Preliminary SAT evaluates the skills each student has developed in critical reading, mathematics and writing; and also provides tools for a student to reach his or her college and career goals.  Because the PSAT 8/9 evaluates the same skills as the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT, taking this assessment is an effective way for a student to start getting ready for the SAT.  Additionally, the PSAT 8/9 gives each student personalized feedback about their academic strengths and areas for improvement, helping each student to prepare for success in college and careers.

IXL Diagnostic Window: All students must complete the IXL math diagnostic at home, which is defined as time outside the normal school day.  Ms. Nash sent a comprehensive email regarding the diagnostic.  Please email Ms. Nash at Nasha@pcsb.org if you have any questions.

SAC: The next SAC meeting is Tuesday, October 19th at 8:50 am via zoom. The meeting was moved to the morning because of the North County DAP Fair being held at Tarpon Springs High School in the evening.

Accountability: Our schoolwide guidelines for success include “RAP” behavior, in which all Spartans are expected to be respectful, accountable and productive.  For Quarter 2 we are focusing on “Accountability”.  Students are expected to write down all assignments in their planner and get at least one parent signature during the week.  Student planners will be checked in their math class this week.  This way parents can see what your child should be completing at home.

COVID Protocols Update: COVID-19 is still prevalent in our community.  Pinellas County Schools recommends wearing masks.  Please help remind your student to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.  Please keep your student home if they are experiencing symptoms. Please know we will always communicate with families if a quarantine is necessary.  Students will be able to access their work via Canvas in the event they are quarantined.  Please also know the county dashboard updates daily.
