• Summer Update 7-22-21

     

    Good afternoon, Spartan Families,

    I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer.  I loved getting to know some of our incoming 6th grade students and families during summer school and am excited for the 2021-22 school year to begin!

    Please review the following important announcements and reminders, and as always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. 

    Summer Reading Reminder:  Please remember, ALL students are required to read at least two books from the Sunshine State list.  The 2021-22 list is located on the school website, in Clever, and attached to this email.  Students may access these books for free via the Sora by OverDrive app in Clever. There will be an assignment related to the summer reading. 

    6th Grade Math Students: ALL 6th grade students must know their multiplication tables.  Please understand this foundational knowledge is crucial to the success of your student.  Students will be assessed on this information during the first couple weeks of school.  Have students practice 1 – 2 tables per day prior to the start of school.

    Attention Rising 7th Grade Students:  All 7th grade students must have their T-Dap immunization prior to beginning fall classes. Please reach out to your health care provider or the health department to schedule your student’s TDAP if you have not done so already. 

    Spartan Camp: Orientation for all incoming 6th grade students is Wednesday, August 4th.  An adult must attend with the student.  Please only report to your scheduled session.

    • Session 1: 8:30 am – 9:45 am – 6th grade students who attended Tarpon Springs Elementary School.
    • Session 2: 10:15 – 11:30 – 6th grade students who attended all other elementary schools. 
    • Session 3: 12: 00 pm – 1:00 pm – Rising 7th and 8th grade students new to Tarpon Springs Middle School

    *Parents will be able to pay student fees, purchase planners, buy school t-shirts, and obtain their PTSA membership at Spartan Camp.  Cash, check, and money order will be accepted.  Credit cards may also be used, but please know there is a small service fee if paying by credit card.

    Student Fees/Planners:  A link to purchase planners and pay student fees will be sent in a separate email for all other students (7th and 8th grade).  All students will use the school-issued planner as the planner contains resources and the student’s hall passes.

    School Supplies:  The recommended school supplies list is posted on the website.  It is also attached to this email.

    Student Schedules:  Student schedules are not accurate in FOCUS.  We run the master schedule daily and will notify you once schedules are locked in the system.

    Summer Update 7-5-21

    Good afternoon, Summer Bridge Families,

    I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday weekend.  Please know school will be closed Tuesday, July 6th and Wednesday, July 7th out of an abundance of caution for the potential storm impact on the area.  As of now we are planning to re-open Thursday, July 8th

    Thank you for sharing your student with us this summer.  Please stay safe, and I look forward to seeing everyone Thursday, July 8th.

    Email Update 6-28-21

    Good afternoon, Spartan Families,

    I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer.  As a reminder, summer hours are Monday – Thursday, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm.  Someone is available to answer the phone from 8 am to 2 pm each day.  If you need to reach the office beyond the 8 am – 2 pm time frame, please email tsms@pcsb.org and we will return your call/email as soon as possible.  Please know school is closed Monday, July 5th
