Can you believe we are almost through the first Quarter? 

Progress Reports will be sent electronically on the 9th of September (This Thursday). Congratulations to Ms. Reed for being named the A+ Teacher of the Week for BayNews 9.  The story was aired this morning at 5:42 a.m.  This is a huge honor for Thurgood Marshall and our wonderful teacher Ms. Reed.

Mrs. Robinson’s classes

As of Thursday, September 2nd we have a long term substitute.  Mr. Andringa will be with us until Mrs. Robinson returns.  Thank you to Mr. Andringa!!!  Mr. Andringa will be grading all assignments submitted and assuming the role of the teacher until her return. 

Picture Day

School Picture Day is Monday, Sept 20 in the Gym.  Forms went home with students today and last Friday.

COVID Reporting

If your child or if there is a positive COVID case within your household please email Ms. Terri to report the positive case defibaught@pcsb.org.  Please do not email the teachers.  You are welcome to call (727) 552-1737 ext 2013 to report the positive case.  Once the school receives the positive reporting we enter the information into our system and await quarantining dates from the Department of Health.  We will need the following information from you to assist the Department of Health (a copy of the positive result, the date the last time the student was on campus, any sibling names that are in Pinellas County Schools) and to identify close contacts within the school.  

The school will enter QP for attendance for students that are quarantined.  Families are still receiving calls that their child is absent even with this coding. 

When there is a close contact call and email to notify families of quarantine, the attendance will also be coded QP. 

Computers

All students should have their school computer assigned to them.  If your child does not please email Ms. Buell for status.  Students will use the computers for extended learning and testing. Students may not use their personal computers on campus.

Car Circle Directions

New car circle will begin October11th.  There will be no entry/exit to the campus from 38th Street South (this entrance will be always locked).  All buses will use 22nd Avenue South for pick up/drop off.  All walkers/bicycle riders will exit at 22nd Avenue South or 19th Avenue South.  Students will not be allowed to exit the gate to be picked up/dropped off on 38th Street South.  Students will not be allowed to be dropped off/picked up on 19th Avenue South only the car circle.  Those that have their students walk to the park adjacent to the school will continue to have that option.

September 14thSAC parent meeting Teams Meeting (6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.)  Must log in by 6:15 p.m. to receive September parent meeting credit.  Parents must remain in the meeting the entire time to receive parent meeting credit.  Until further notice meetings will be virtual.  This meeting will review the School Improvement Plan for 2021-22 and SAC official business (ensuring we have the appropriate members).

Parent Information

The Tampa Bay Rays have put together a fantastic ticket offer for Pinellas County students, employees, their friends, and families for the Miami Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays game on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 6:10pm.  Tickets will be offered for $18 (up to $55 value) In the following seating categories in the Lower Level while supplies last:  Lower Box and Lower Reserved.    If our school reaches 150 or more tickets sold, we will receive a visit from the Rays Mascot Raymond, and the Rays Street Team on our campus during the fall of 2022.  

Flag Football

INTRAMURAL FLAG-FOOTBALL

            We will begin Intramural Flag-Football this Fall.  The dates will be on Tuesdays after school September 14th through November 2nd.  We will play after school from 4:30-5:30. Students will need to be picked up out front of the school by 5:40.  There are 3 items of paperwork that need to be turned in to Coach Shaw before anyone can participate: Participation Form, Physical Form from the Dr. and County Insurance.  The information for the insurance and the Participation Form are attached to this packet.  The Physical Form will come from the Physician

  1. Click on "Browse Rates", click on "Pick your state" then select Pinellas County Schools. Under the rate information, click on the Brochure (English or Spanish) if you want to view the high/low benefit plans before making your purchase.
  2. Open New Account - Create an account with a User ID and Password. (You must create a new account each school year.) Remember your User ID and Password for future reference and to reprint ID cards if necessary.
  3. Add Student & Coverage by clicking the "Add Student" button on the top of the page. Continue to add each student by clicking on the "Add Student" button until all your students are added.
  4. Click on "Add Selected Items to Shopping Cart" then select "Checkout".
  5. Select your payment type and click "Continue Checkout". Pay by credit card or e-check. If you do not have a credit card or checking account, contact the local office at 727-656-6980 for assistance.
  6. Enter billing information and click "Continue Checkout".
  7. Click "Pay and View Receipt" to complete your order. to print your ID card, click on Return to My Account at the bottom of the screen. You will also receive a confirmation email with the ID card.
  8. Provide a copy of the ID card to the Coach as proof of enrollment.

PTA

Thurgood Marshall Fundamental Middle School PTSA supports this Mission of the National PTA by supporting school and district programs, supporting the school community through family events, and giving direct help to our teachers and staff.   We will continue to provide an excellent learning experience for our students with the support of our members.

At this time, we are also seeking donations, although we do have a “traditional” fundraiser scheduled, with no fundraisers last year and the future unknown, we need your help more than ever!  

We are kicking off our “Just Write a Check” campaign and are hoping to raise $5000 before the end of August.
