Phone message from Fred Whitaker – 3/25/20

All students must log in to TEAMS and access their classes by tomorrow afternoon so teachers can verify the students reporting for class.  Attendance and instruction will begin Monday, March 30th via TEAMS, so all students must ensure they have checked in with their teachers via TEAMS.  Please, parents and students if you could help spread the word (following CDC guidelines of course😊) to other students it would be a HUGE help.  Our teachers are eagerly awaiting to here from their students online.

Teams should be accessed through the downloaded program on a computer or through the downloaded app on tablets and smartphones. The reason being that the downloaded and app versions contain all the tools. The online version in Clever does not, so please make sure you have the downloaded TEAMS APP.

Phone message from Mr. Whitaker – Friday, March 27

Hello Cougar Family, this is Mr. Whitaker, Assistant Principal at Countryside HS.

We have a lot of students who have still not accessed their TEAMS class sites.  This is another very important reminder that all students should have logged in to TEAMS through the APP by now to check in to all their classes by responding to their teachers brief attendance assignment to verify they have accessed their class.  Students if you have not logged in to all your classes via TEAMS app, please do so ASAP as instruction begins online on Monday, March 30th as well as attendance.  I have posted instructions and links for help on the Countryside Facebook page.  Please know due to the large amount students attempting to download the TEAMS app, it could take a bit of time in downloading, if all else fails login to TEAMS through Clever to check in to your classes and then download the TEAMS app later.

If your student is still in need of a computer for online learning, Please, email Ms Overall at overalle@pcsb.org or call her at 727-725-7956 ext. 2016 between the hours of 9:30 and 3:30 as soon as possible.  Remember that devices are reserved for families “in need” who have no other means for their students to access the internet.  For technical difficulties with Teams, please call or email Ms Overall or call our tech help line at 727-588-6060.

On a lighter note, anyone interested in playing chess online contact Mr. Mills at millschr@pcsb.org

At this time, we are still planning for Summer Bridge learning opportunities.  Summer Bridge offers engaging activities and individualized instruction to ensure that students begin next school year with confidence and success. Summer Bridge is designed to counteract the “summer slide.” Many children lose an average of two months of skills over the summer. Could your child benefit from extra learning over the summer? Most Summer Bridge programs will take place 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, June 8 to July 16. Summer Bridge registration began March 24 at reservation.pcsb.org

Please, know that refunds will be processed for field trips and other activities that have been cancelled thus far.  Our book keeper will be working on that diligently when we return to school.  We ask that parents be patient with this process. Those that paid for Grad Bash will receive a credit, since it was paid with a credit card.

At this time, we do not have an alternative date for the prom, if and when we are able to resume having large gatherings we will determine if a new date can be arranged.  If the event cannot be rescheduled, you will receive a refund.

With patience and care we will all get through this together.  Our teachers are working diligently to provide our students with the best online educational experience.  I’d like to thank our teachers for their hard work in creating their online curriculum, thank you to the teachers and staff who worked to distribute over 200+ electronic devices, and our simply fantastic Plant Operations staff for their work in cleaning and disinfecting the entire campus.  Thank you for your support and understanding during this time as we all learn to adapt to our new way of work.  Remember, online classes begin Monday, and attendance will be taken starting Monday.   Have a wonderful night, stay safe and GO COUGARS!
