Financial Aid Applications - Please read this important information.

Gibbs High School seniors will make many important decisions this fall. One of the most crucial steps students can take is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). By completing the FAFSA, students can access several sources of financial aid that make their pathway to college attainable.

All seniors in Pinellas are eligible to participate in the College Board Opportunity Scholarships. The program lays out six simple steps that all students can take to get to college, including completion of the FAFSA.

FAFSA Scholarships: Students can now qualify for $1,000 Complete the FAFSA Scholarships by filling out the FAFSA and confirming with the College Board that they've completed it. Students who aren't eligible to complete the FAFSA can still qualify for the FAFSA scholarship from the College Board.

Free FAFSA Assistance: Starting in November, students can elect to receive free, personalized FAFSA assistance via text message. They can take advantage of these opportunities by registering for the scholarships program and opting into FAFSA assistance on the My Action Plan page.

Why should students fill out the FAFSA? The FAFSA qualifies students for up to $6,000 in Pell Grants, public loans, and federal work study. Many states and institutions also use the FAFSA to qualify students for additional aid and scholarships. Filing the FAFSA opens doors to aid that helps students and families afford college.

Who should fill out the FAFSA? Any student who is a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen can fill out the FAFSA at fafsa.gov or on the myStudentAid phone app. Review eligibility requirements.

When should students fill out the FAFSA? As soon as possible! Important deadlines:

1.

Some states have deadlines in early 2020, and others disburse aid on a first-come, first-served basis. Find out more about your state's deadlines.

2.

The deadline for the Complete the FAFSA Scholarship is February 29, 2020.

How can you support your seniors?
