Volunteer Updates

Volunteers,

Welcome back! As we embark on a new school year there are many opportunities to volunteer and help improve the learning environment of our schools.  Please remember that all volunteers or visitors are required to sign in at the front reception desk and we ask that you log your volunteer hours in the Volunteer System in Focus.

If you’re a returning volunteer you do not have to fill out a new volunteer registration form. All you need to do is “activate” in the volunteer system in Focus prior to volunteering at your selected school. To activate your volunteer profile go tohttps://focus.pcsb.org/volunteer. Log in using your v.account (last name first initial - all lowercase) and password: Last name birth year.  This is a new link for volunteers.  Please remove the old link from your computer and save this to favorites.  This link must be used with Firefox and does not work with phones.

Example:

Login: v.smitha

Password: Smith1973

If you’re a returning mentor or tutor the family & community liaison at the school where your student is will be contacting you shortly to discuss your return. Mentor and tutor sessions will resume as early as mid-August. If you have any concerns please feel free to contact the school directly.

Osceola Fundamental High School currently has a critical need for Take Stock in Children mentors.

We are also currently in need of parents to sit on the School Advisory Committee.  These meeting are held once a month and will count as your monthly required meeting.

There are many ways to support student achievement through volunteer activities such as, but are not limited to the following: mentoring, tutoring, music, art, sporting events, Boosters clubs, PTA/PTO, athletic coaching assistants, transporting students, field trip, chaperones, Clubs, Sponsors for organizations or programs such as 5000 Role Models, Peer to Peer Mentoring, NHS, Student Government and more.

We are currently accepting speakers for the Great American Teach In scheduled on Wednesday November 16, 2016.  Please let us know if you are interested

Please contact Debbie Giovo at 727-547-7717 ext 2002 or giovod@pcsb.org for additional information regarding any questions or inquiries you may have.
