Next Generation Tech

Developing the Future of Technology

Have you ever dreamed of owning your own startup, wondered what it takes to develop an app, video game or other software product, or just wanted to gain some real world experience in business or technology? If so, we encourage you to come up with an idea and apply to Next Generation Tech. Next Generation Tech is a unique experience for you to work alongside business and technology mentors to take your idea for a software product and bring it to life. This is a student-driven program. You will be competing for up to $10,000 while taking on roles such as Project Manager, Business Analyst and Software Developer. You will attend six workshops that take you through the software development life cycle while helping you to develop your product. Business and IT professional mentors will consult with you during the workshops. Past mentors have included representatives from Malwarebytes, Raymond James, Tech Data, Nielsen, Achieva and GTE financial. Their expertise includes coding, user interface, computer architecture, computer security, management and more. Networking with these professionals can open doors to internships and other opportunities. Last year’s winning team even had the opportunity to meet with Kevin Harrington, the original shark from Shark Tank. This year’s first place team will also be awarded a business accelerator package. If you are interested in participating, the first step is to find two to four other people to join your team, then apply at http://bit.ly/NextGenTech2019.
