PTC Students Win Top Honors At The SkillsUSA State Championship

 Pinellas Technical College students (PTC) competed with students from around the State and won top honors at the SkillsUSA State championship held in Lakeland, Florida, April 24th-27th. 

The following PTC students won medals in the post secondary competitions: 

* Jesse McKinney, Shawn Rembert, Jim Moore and Terrance Williams each won a Gold Medal in the Team Works category. 

* Christopher Jones won a Gold Medal and Brenden Reyes won a Silver Medal in the Firefighting category. 

* Oscar Chandler won a Gold Medal in the Cabinetmaking category

* Jessica Johnson won a Gold Medal, Jalise Flowers won a Silver Medal and Cameron Sweet won a Bronze Medal in the Hair Weave category. 

William Gauzens * William Gauzens won a Silver Medal for Extemporaneous Speaking in the Entrepreneurship category for Automotive Technology 

* Justin Sims won a Silver Medal for the HVAC category. 

* Lizbeth Galarza won a Silver Medal in the Job Skills Demonstration Open Category for Cosmetology. 

* Mathew Hooker won a Silver Medal in Marine Technology. 

*Alysia Leveutte won a Bronze Medal for Job Skills Demonstration Open category for Cosmetology Technology 

* Madelenea Chacho won a Bronze Medal in the Culinary Arts category. 

* Sam Morin won a Bronze Medal in the Plumbing category.

 “I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the advisors that prepared our students for this fantastic success,” said Jake Prokop, Assistant Director of the St. Petersburg Pinellas Technical College campus. “We could not have this success without working as a team to support the high standard and expectations for our students.”
Some of the SkillsUSA state winners will be going on to the national competition that will be held on June 19th-25th in Louisville, Kentucky.
