Pinellas County Schools Model United Nations Conference teaches students about diplomacy

Pinellas County Schools in partnership with St. Petersburg College's Clearwater Campus and Foundations for Leadership, organized a day for students to increase their civic awareness and build informed views on issues affecting communities worldwide. More than 400 students from six middle schools and eight high schools participated in the annual Pinellas County Schools Model United Nations Conference on Friday, April 7. At the conference, students learn about diplomacy as they represent countries as delegates within a committee in the United Nations.
At the conclusion of the day, delegations in each committee receive awards for Best Position Paper, Best Delegation and Honorable Mention for their research and preparation as well as their performance during the conference. In addition, one middle school and one high school is awarded with the Secretary General's Award that recognizes the school who is superior in all areas. Congratulations to Dunedin Highland Middle School and Boca Ciega High School for the honor of receiving the Secretary General's Award.
