School psychologist Taryn Ecker has been named PCS Student Services Employee of the Year
Jan. 17, 2019
Ecker, who is currently assigned to Cypress Woods and Belcher elementary schools, has been a school psychologist with Pinellas County Schools for six years.
The school district has about 700 student services employees, including school counselors, school social workers, attendance specialists, educational diagnosticians, school nurses and our school psychologists.
"Out of all of our Student Services staff, Taryn was chosen to represent the wonderful work that all of them do," said Executive Director of Student Services Donna Sicilian.
Ecker is a team leader in the department, taking on additional responsibilities to assist the department and train and mentor staff.
Ecker exhibits "unrelenting determination for student success," innovative collaboration and innate abilities to push others in a positive way, according to her nominator. She runs several small groups, focusing typically on anger and social skills, to give students a more solid foundation for their emotions and behaviors. She collaborates with parents and clearly explains the district's acronyms and procedures. She is always ready for meetings with data and graphs. She is known across campus for her positive attitude and her eagerness to share advice, ideas and academic resources.
Ecker will be recognized as the 2018-2019 Student Services Employee of the Year at the Jan. 29 School Board meeting.
