Clearwater High School Freedom Ambassadors share their Civil Rights Tour experiences
April 26, 2019
The Clearwater High School Freedom Ambassadors visited Plumb Elementary Thursday and presented to the school’s fifth-graders their experiences from their annual Civil Rights Tour. The high school students shared lessons they have learned in their class and on the trip. They also played a few games with the students that stressed the importance of encouragement, communication and teamwork.
As the presentation concluded, the fifth-graders learned about themes from the Civil Rights Movement. Those themes included how everyone has a voice they can use, that knowledge is power, the importance of knowing your history and that love overcomes hate.
From March 15-18, CHS Freedom Ambassadors visited Atlanta, Ga., Birmingham, Ala., Memphis, Tenn. and Washington, D.C. The trip was the culmination of a project-based, personalized learning opportunity that included an in-depth tour of sites with historical significance for the Civil Rights Movement.
