Pinellas teacher is nominee for National History Day teacher of the year

Amanda Dogu St. Petersburg High teacher Amanda Dogu has been selected as the National History Day senior division nominee for Florida. 

Dogu, who teaches AP World History teacher at St. Petersburg High, is serving her first year at St. Petersburg High and her 10th year in the school district. Since joining the faculty at St. Petersburg High, she started a National History Day Club and served as an advisor for Model UN. In 2024, she was the Florida History Day Teacher of Merit.

The National History Day program selected up to one middle school teacher and one high school teacher to represent each affiliate for the prestigious award. Nationally and internationally, 71 educators are up for the award this year. National winners in the junior and senior divisions will be announced in June. The winning 2025 Teachers of the Year will each receive a $5,000 cash prize.
