Pinellas County Schools’ students continue to demonstrate a trajectory of excellence

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) released the 2025 district- and student-level results for the following assessments: grades 3-10 Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Progress Monitoring 3 (PM3) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, Statewide Science Assessments, as well as End-of-Course (EOC) exams in Algebra 1, Geometry, Civics and US History.

In the third year of these assessments, Pinellas County Schools’ students continue to demonstrate a trajectory for excellence in both FAST and EOC scores.  

“These results demonstrate the continued excellence and effort of our students,” said Superintendent Kevin Hendrick. “Pinellas County Schools is committed to 100% student success, and I am incredibly proud of the work we did as a community throughout the 2024-25 school year. The district is poised to build upon the progress we have made over the past three years. We are excited for 2025-26 and ready to soar in the new school year.”  

District Summary:   

In English Language Arts (ELA), the district outpaced the state by demonstrating 61% proficiency in grades 3-10 on the FAST assessments. Pinellas County Schools outpaced the state in grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-10.  

  • Pinellas County Schools is first among the large districts in ELA proficiency (tied with Broward) and ranked 14th in the state across all school districts. 

In Mathematics, the district outpaced the state by demonstrating 61% proficiency in grades 3-12 on the FAST and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. Pinellas County Schools outpaced the state in grades 3-5, 6-8, and Algebra I. 

  • Pinellas County Schools is third among the large districts in Mathematics proficiency and ranked 17th in the state across all school districts. 

In Science, the district outpaced the state by demonstrating 67% (grade 5) and 58% (grade 8) proficiency in Florida Statewide Science Assessments and is commensurate with the state in the Biology EOC, with 70% proficiency.  

  • Among the large districts in Grade 5 science proficiency, the district is first and ranked third in the state across all school districts. 
  • In grade 8, PCS is first among the large districts in science proficiency and ranked 12th in the state across all school districts. 
  • In the Biology EOC, the district demonstrated an increase of eight percentage points during the 2024-25 school year and is ranked 29th in the state overall. 

In Social Studies, the district outpaced the state by demonstrating 78% proficiency in Civics EOC and 71% proficiency in US History.  

  • Among large districts, Pinellas County Schools is first in Civics among large districts and ranked 11th in the state across all school districts. 
  • In the US History EOC, the district demonstrated an increase of five percentage points during the 2024-25 school year. Ranking fourth among large districts (tied with Duval) and 19th in the state across all school districts. 

While the state is recognizing a narrowing of student achievement gaps, the data released does not allow the district to immediately assess achievement gaps by sub-group.
