Pinellas Early Literacy Initiative at Fairmount Park Elementary
The Pinellas Early Literacy Initiative (PELI) provides a variety of resources to help students become strong readers. The program gives teachers access to a school-based support team, one-on-one coaching and extra training to support students as they learn to read.
PELI trains highly skilled teachers on specific instruction to close achievement gaps and transform early learning and literacy. The initiative is supported through partnerships with the Helios Education Foundation, the Pinellas Education Foundation, Pinellas County Schools, the Pinellas Early Learning Coalition and the University of Florida’s Lastinger Center. This school year, the program gained five new community preschools and eight new elementary schools for a total of 21 schools.
